Illuminated Letter Workshop – 10 October

During this workshop we will explore the traditional craft of illumination.

Using pre printed templates you will learn how to trace down, outline, gild using 23ct  gold leaf and finally paint your gilded initial using gouache and a fine paintbrush.

The timings for the workshop are approximate. Some will complete each section quicker than others so may finish earlier and some later. We will continue until the project is finished.

Hot and cold drinks are provided but we will stop for a lunch break so bring please your own lunch.

The price for the workshop includes all materials required during the day.

Please note there is a lot of close detailed work involved with illumination and normal prescription glasses may not be sufficient for the class. I would suggest purchasing some readers may be in the 2:00 – 3:00 range. It’s worth checking how they feel as you will be painting and drawing at close range. 

Cancellation terms and conditions
Please be aware once payment has been made and your booking is confirmed we will not be able to issue any refunds. If you cancel up to 14 days prior to your workshop we can transfer your booking to a future date. If the cancellation is within 14 days of your workshop we cannot swap your date although you can offer your place to a friend. It is important therefore to ensure you are able to attend before committing.
